Warning : The following rules should be adhered to preserve this very access-sensitive area :
1. Do NOT park on or near the end of the cottage road. It is a private road. Some cottage owners have already been upset and even parking on the main road at the end of Whipporwill Bay Rd has become a problem. Instead use the parking lot for the Bruce trail located a couple of minutes walk further down the road. If you feel compelled to drop off packs and passengers at the bottom of the road, please be respectful and then move your car to the Bruce trail parking area.
2. Keep the speed down. 30-40 km/hr will still get you down the cottage roads plenty fast enough yet reduces dust and is safer for kids and pedestrians.
3. Turn down the radio volume. After coming up from the city with the tunes cranked for the ride, local cottagers may consider it noise pollution or rude.
4. Be respectful and couteous to other people. Give a friendly wave to pedestrians as you slowly drive by. Give them plenty of room as you pass. Say a friendly hello or chat with cottage owners while you get the crashpads out of the car. Answer questions politely, even if they are the same every time.
5. Respect private land and the privacy of the landowners. This is their property.
6. Do NOT cut down trees or destroy any vegetation to develop new problems.
7. Do not strip moss, lichen or vegetation on the boulders, especially on established problems.
8. Leave nothing behind (tape, chalk) and take nothing but pictures/videos.
9. Do not chip the boulders (white bluff crag is chipped)
10. Do not use excessive chalk and remove tick marks when finished
11. Do not use wire brushes
12. Do not bring undue attention by being loud
13. Do not disturb/kill any wildlife especially the Rattlesnakes
14. Do not partake in arguments or disagreements with cottage owners. Their tolerance abides our access. If you are asked to leave, please do so and return another day.
